The Sorcerer Sorcier [Episode #210]
This card was originally posted along with some of our very first Art and Stories of the 20th Century Postcard content way back in July of 2016. It wasn’t until later, with our Columbus in the Caribbean Episode and yesterday’s Windmolens that we realized a pattern was beginning to emerge and along with it a truly bizarre form of marketing pharmaceuticals via “dear doctor” postcards.
Further research via Wikipedia revealed this chunk of Poulenc history: “Rhône-Poulenc was a French chemical and pharmaceutical company founded in 1928. In 1999 it merged with Hoechst AG to form Aventis. As of 2015, the pharmaceutical operations of Rhône-Poulenc are part of Sanofi and the chemicals divisions are part of Solvay group and Bayer Crop Science.”
